Less than two weeks ago, the web was buzzing with leaks of Western Digital’s WD TV Live Hub Media Center. Now, the company is finally outing its own product.
The latest in the WD TV media player family promises full HD 1080p playback via HDMI 1.4, from a compact chassis that can also store up to 1TB of your favorite content. Other features include rental options from Blockbuster On Demand, Facebook access, and streaming from Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube.
Of course, it’s a media center first and foremost, meaning you can also stream content from networked PCs or Macs, as well as external hard drives, thumb drives, camcorders, and anything else you can connect to one of the drive’s two USB ports. It also supports DLNA/UpnP products, so compatible HDTVs, Blu-ray players, the Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3 are welcome into the mix.
If you’re in need of a little more, third-party apps can add in content from the iPad, iPhone and Android phones.
For now, the WD TV Live Hub Media Center is a Best Buy exclusive. It’s selling for $199.99.
