Verisimo’s VuNow PoD
If you really dig online videos and want them directly on your TV, the options are growing. You might want to check into one of the smallest ones—the palm-of-your-hand-sized VuNow PoD.
Especially after maker Verismo Networks updated the VN1000 PoD player, which comes in high-def and standard-def versions, with its 3.0 software enhancements.
For one, the PoD will handle your web videos quicker, as it’s been bumped up from 802.11g to 802.11n wireless support.
That’ll come in handy when you’re surfing all of the new TV channel options, of which there were more than 50 added in this update. Verismo has also added access to 35 more websites, as well as Internet radio available from Shoutcast stations.
There’s also multilanguage support now, PAL video format playback, and Dolby Digital AC-3 format support. That’s in addition to the goods already included with the box such as search functionality and BitTorrent download capability.
Sorry, Mac users, but the PoD only works with Windows or other Networked Attached Storage (NAS) devices that are DLNA compliant. The high-def version (VN1000HD) runs $149, the standard-def (VN1000SD) $129.
