Vudu is keeping its dream of video-on-demand alive, by dropping $100 off its set-top box.
Twice says it’s a direct response to Apple’s recent announcement that it would increase Apple TV’s features (and include high-def), and decrease the price to $229 (for 40GB). But will 100 bucks off be enough to entice viewers?
The box will still cost $295, with high-def movies ranging from $4 to $6 each. There’s no word on whether the savings would be passed on to the upcoming Vudu XL, which will run $999.
There is good news though: Those that have purchased the original Vudu box in the last 30 days are in store for a monster movie marathon; the company will issue $100 in credit with proof of purchase.
