VUDU Adds HD Titles, Best Buy Discount
The on-demand service now has 1,100 HD titles, promises $200 discount for Best Buy shoppers.
November 10, 2008 | by Rachel Cericola

VUDU had a pretty busy October. The company says they added 150 high-def movie titles every week to its on-demand library—bringing us (well, them) to a grand total of 1,100 HD offerings.

However, their job is far from over. The company says it will keep adding high-def titles in coming weeks, which includes offerings for “instant start HD,” as well as the company’s own HDX format.

“We’re certainly proud to offer the largest HD library on the planet, but the motivation to accomplish this really sprang from our customers, retail partners and home theater installation professionals, all of whom were asking for more HD content,” said Edward Lichty, VUDU’s executive VP of content.

If the extra titles aren’t enough to entice you, maybe 200 bucks off will. As an added incentive, VUDU also announced plans to offer potential subscribers $200 off—sort of. Buy a VUDU bundle at Best Buy for $299 and you’ll score $200 worth of movie credits. We’re guessing that offer is only on the standard VUDU box, since you need to call an installer for the VUDU XL.

To redeem your credits, you’ll need to activate a new VUDU account no later than January 15, 2009.
