Vizio, one of our favorites when it comes to combining performance and affordability for flat-panel TVs, has unleashed what it’s calling its high-performance series—the XVT Series, all with full HD 1080p resolution.

The XVTs are available in 42- and 47-inch LCDs (models SV420XVT and SV470XVT) as well as a 50-inch plasma (VP505XVT).

Of course, with Vizio, a major question is always, “How’s the price?” Well, in the 1080p game, pretty true to Vizio form. The LCDs, which will ship in July, will go for $1,499 and $1,899, respectively. The plasma is also expected to ship in July and will run $1,699.

For features, the XVT Series includes Vizio’s Smooth Motion technology, which gets the 120-Hz refresh rate treatment on the LCDs. They also have contrast ratios of 6,500:1 and Vizio Select for customizing video settings specific to the type of content you’re watching. Both LCDs have HD Game Ports with two HDMI 1.3 inputs for easy connection to your gaming console, plus two HDMI ports on the rear panel.

The plasma includes Silicon Optix’s Reon HQV processing for improved color and detail on both the high-def and standard-definition levels, Vizio says. The contrast ratio is measured at 30,000:1, and panel lifespan has improved to between 60,000 and 100,000 hours at half original brightness.

We know you’re probably using a separate sound system, but on the plasma you also get Vizio’s new Brandy Wine colored speaker grille for enhanced aesthetics. The model also has the HD Game Ports to go with the rear HDMI inputs, and you even get a 6-foot HDMI cable in the package.
