Our Product Geek gets her game face on! Editor Rachel Cericola hits the highlights of this week’s video game releases…

Expect frenzy to ensue over Madden NFL 07. That John Madden slapped his name on a good product. Madden games usually spend a good chunk of time at the top of the best-seller’s list, and rightfully so. It’s even made a frothing competitor out of this non-football fan. (Electronic Arts)
All platforms (Wii coming in November): $29.95 to $69.95

Fans of the “other” football will appreciate FIFA 07. EA knows its sports, with realistic portrayals of real-world players and the thrill of fast-on-your-feet action—or as fast as soccer can be. Invite over your favorite hooligans and you’ve got yourself a game! (Electronic Arts)
All platforms: $29.99 to $59.99

The kids might be clamoring for Pokemon Ranger. GameSpy says the game might “only” take your kids eight or nine hours to finish. Isn’t that plenty of time for the eye-twitching to set in? (Nintendo)
Nintendo DS: $29.99

If you have sort of a “black thumb” when it comes to kitties and puppies, you might be able to handle Sims 2: Pets. Like any Sims game, it takes a bit of patience, but even the oldest dog can learn a few new tricks about animal upkeep. (Electronic Arts)
PS2, GameCube, PC: $29.99 to $39.99

The geek game of the week has got to be Final Fantasy XII. Armor-clad characters use swords and magic to enhance a pretty intricate storyline for a videogame. But the bottom line is: If you’ve followed this game up until the 12th installment, do you really need my endorsement? (Square Enix)
PS2: $49.99

Platforms include PC, PlayStation2, PSP, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, Xbox, Xbox 360.
