It’s been said before and it remains true to this day: content is king.

VidaBox‘s new 4U RackServerV2 is a dedicated media server that custom electronics pros can set up to distribute Blu-ray, DVD, music, photos and video throughout a home to as many as 10 media extender devices.

The N.Y.-based company offers the server with and without RAID protection, and it can be configured in a number of ways to provide as much as 32TB of storage with the use of one of the company’s RackServerV2+Plus expansion units.

VidaBox also equips the server with its 1-Step Drop-n-Rip feature, which enables users to rip unencrypted discs easily, and its DualRip feature, which VidaBox designed for audiophiles.

According to the company, the DualRip feature rips CDs in the uncompressed WAV format for playback in a typical home audio system without having the distraction of listening to low resolution audio files and in the MP3 format so the same music can be stored on an Apple iPod.

Ok it can stream from the potentially 32tb of storage DVDs, BR etc. but it can only rip unencrypted discs?

Last I checked, home backups of YOUR discs are perfectly legal.

Not to knock the co. too much but would it kill them to use something other then an ancient bottom end 4u case( I threw out one of those cases 4 years ago due to cooling issues)?  The case they show on the site for the RackServer (which I want to know how they were able to trademark) is literally less then 80 dollars online NEW.  It only has 2 80mm fans plus whatever (80-120mm) fan is on the PSU for removal of heat.  There are no intake fans listed so I am hoping that there is an 80-92mm intake fan pulling air through those hard drives and possibly a seperate intake elsewhere.

The Specs page is 404ed so it does not give an ability to look at what the specs of the system are.

I would suggest that the vendor in this article look at the Norco 470 and 4220.  Both of those cases provide a much cleaner look, a much better cooling option, and plenty of upgrade space.  The 4220 has 20x built in SATA hotswap bays. The 470 has plenty of storage space as well (can configure it a ton of different ways).
