We love it when Microsoft and Apple play nice. Sometimes it takes some third-party intervention to bring the corporate giants together, so fans of one can still use the other’s products if need be.

That’s what VidaBox has done with its media server controls. The manufacturer of Microsoft Windows Media Centers has jumped on the iPad bandwagon, debuting its iPad Media Center controls this week at the Asian Pacific CEDIA Expo; the company says it’s the first “to offer such a solution for Windows-based Media Centers.”

“We’re all absolutely thrilled to be the first in showcasing what dealers have been asking for,” said VidaBox president Steven Cheung. “With the iPad, users can now browse and launch movies and music by cover art, get rich metadata, and much more - quickly and easily - all from a single, inexpensive device. Beyond controlling media center, dealers and integrators can potentially tie in multiroom audio, or basic room control with lighting and more.”

You’ll be able to tap the iPad and control different zones in your house and command TVs, receivers and other A/V gear, lighting and more.

The company adds that it plans to integrate audio from web radio stalwarts such as Rhapsody, Pandora, Napster, Shoutcast and more into the controls.

VidaBox says its dealers will be able to use and program the iPad controls with its new vAutomation 2.0 platform beginning in Q3 of this year, so keep an eye out for your local VidaBox custom pro. In the meantime, here are some screenshots:
