This homeowner was seeking to develop the basement into an alluring family space. The goal was for the space to reflect the personalities in the home. The homeowner and installer decided to create a place where even grandma could experience media.

The result is a theater space that blends Victorian decor and beautiful architectural features. Precision crafted solid cherry doors highlight the entrance as you walk through the threshold from lavish cream to a bold brick carpet. The lighting is a perfect spotlight for the architectural details, including the barrel vault ceiling and custom sound columns, which are accented with rich solid walnut and finished in a Victorian patterned two-tone fabric. Specially selected seating for five has been designed so that it accentuates the theater room and defines stylish appeal.

Keep It Simple
Aside from cool, the family wanted a theater that was not complicated. Thanks to Control4’s navigation-based automation in the theater, the family could access every electrical component in the room. This system makes the media easily accessible and allows each family member to create their own comfortable atmosphere.

The audio was designed specifically for the space. Element Construction’s Strata live theater products were built to meet the architectural requirements to the room. Their proprietary Sym-Plain system aligns the drivers along two planes, allowing space for mass loading crossover isolation to achieve virtually complete resonance control. The result boasts a sonic performance where each tone floats on an invisible stage. This allows the listeners to pinpoint the location of each instrument’s player, space between players and an irresistible sensation of depth. In theater mode, this simplifies the ambiance of the original recording. Combined with 1080p video, it creates an extraordinary dimension that impacts the listener’s soul.
