Verizon may come through when it comes to contacting my dad at all hours without dipping into my monthly minutes, but there’s one thing I won’t be able to count on them for—my new iPhone.

The wireless carrier passed on an offer from Apple to be an exclusive partner. Speaking as a Verizon subscriber, I just have to say, “What the heck are you guys thinking??”

Apparently, Apple wanted a big chunk of control, as well as monthly fees, says USA Today. Well duh! Now Cingular subscribers will be laughing in my face—or maybe they are just talking to friends.

Apple’s iPhone will be available to Cingular users starting in June.

  • $500
  • Available in June
  • Exclusive to Cingular subscribers
