URC has slowly been leaking out pieces of its Total Control whole-house control system. Now, the puzzle is complete.

The company just announced that they’ve started shipping the SNP-1 Streaming Network Player. URC says that this is the last of the Total Control components to ship. Total Control is the company’s IP-based control system.

The new SNP-1 is a streamer, which adds services such as Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM and web radio, into the mix. Users can access those services through a variety of URC interfaces, including Total Control remotes, touchscreens and in-wall keypads.

URC also says that when the SNP-1 is used in conjunction with one of the company’s amps, the listeners can get music in its native, uncompressed format. It can also be paired with URC’s PSX-2 iPod dock and third-party digital and analog audio source components, for music all over the house at the touch of a button.

Besides the newly launched SNP-1 Streaming Network Player, the Total Control setup includes the previously released MRX-10 Advanced Network System Controller and the DMS-1200 Multi-Zone Network Amplifier. There are also a few control devices available, such as the TRC-780 remote, the TKP-2000 in-wall touchscreen, and the TKP-100 in-wall keypad.

“With the release of the SNP-1, Total Control is officially here,” said Doug Cole, URC’s senior VP and GM. “We’ve run our Total Control products through intensive alpha and beta tests, both internally and with select dealers, to ensure that they are just as rock-solid as the URC remote controls that led us to the top of custom installation industry. And we’re not done. We’ll be continually adding new Total Control user interfaces, such as an iPad/iPhone app.”
