Universal Remote Control’s KP-900 Wireless Keypad

Talk about a versatile keypad. The new KP-900 Wireless Keypad from Universal Remote Control doubles as a handheld device and is easy to mount back onto a wall.

The KP-900 looks good on your walls, in decorator-friendly white, light almond and black colors. All it takes is four screws to attach to the device’s mounting bracket, and because it’s wireless your custom installer doesn’t have to open the wall or run any new wires from it.

There’s a backlit screen so your selections are easy to make, with six-custom labeled buttons next to the screen that change what they command according to what device you’re using.

The KP-900 will work with a range of 30 to 50 feet using IR signals, or 50 to 100 feet on RF with an optional MRF-350 or MRF-260 RF Base Station.

If you have an MSC-400 Master System Controller from Universal Remote, the wireless keypad is also compatible with that. The KP-900 is designed to be professionally programmed, and will be available from authorized URC dealers in March at an MSRP of $599.

Definately slick. As an owner of MX remotes since the 500, and a current owner of an MX-900 (controling 4 zones, lighting and drapes) I can say that this is one powerful keypad. It’s essentially a wall mountable version of the MX-900. While it’s price is out of reach for now, I can see a few of these around my house eventually (in black, of course). I wonder if they’ll introduce an MX-3000-ish touchscreen version. Although I can only imagine what the price would be [YIKES].
