Audiovox and tvCompass have teamed to create the Smart Remote, a device that combines universal remote control functionality and WiFi connectivity.

WiFi allows the Smart Remote to set up home theater equipment without a PC. The remote can also receive new device codes wirelessly.

The Smart Remote connects to tvCompass’ click365 content and services network, which provides access to entertainment information, TV listings, messaging and games. Content is viewed via the remote’s 2.2-inch color LCD screen.

The SmartRemote will be available at retailers this summer for $299.99 (MSRP).
