One UK homeowner certainly has it made in (and of) the shade, with one of the biggest automated shade installs we’ve ever seen.

Installation company James Robertshaw was contracted to manufacture and install 42 automated shades into this home. Somfy was the company’s motorized mechanism of choice. They combined LS40 motors with a System 40 barrel and 14 different Moco 220-240V A/C motor control boxes, which were already part of the home’s Lutron control panel.

The homeowner asked that no wires or blinds be visible, except when drawn, of course. So the company built each of the blinds into the recessed ceiling, which also houses all of the necessary cables. As an added measure, the blinds are made of Louvolite’s Nocturne Cream material, a white that perfectly matches the walls and ceiling. This creates a bit of a “blackout” effect.

The end result allows the homeowner plenty of shady places around the home, via 42 different automated shades. Each one can be controlled individually via Somfy’s Smoove Pure wall-mounted switch.
