Vizio’s busy letting loose with the news today, even on products that have been on the shelves for a month. When the news involves pricing, though, we’re listening.
The company has announced that two of its plasmas that were made available in May, the VP422 42-incher and the VP322 32-inch model, can be had for just $799 and $599, respectively. Even for Vizio these are deals, since they had been announced at CES back in January at $999 and $689, as Engadget HD reminded us.
The VP422 and VP322 each feature contrast ratios of 30,000:1 and resolution of 720p—not quite at the XVT Series 1080p level Vizio announced earlier this morning.
Connections include three HDMI inputs (one for HD Game Port on the side panel), component video and RGB PC. Vizio measures the half-life to 60,000 hours, so if you’re using the digital transition as an excuse to get a new TV you can count on having one of these for a while.
Vizio started shipping these plasmas in May to all 3,400 Wal-Mart stores, so have at ‘em.
