When a family movie night arises, there are several ways to stream an impromptu selection. Netflix has plenty of family-friendly titles, or you can go the pay-per-view route with your service provider, Amazon Instant Video or VUDU.

Well, now Toys"R"Us wants to get in on your family’s selection process, launching Toys"R"Us Movies.

Powered by Rovi, the service has more than 4,000 titles available for streaming through ToysrusMovies.com. These aren’t weird titles, either. For instance, we found DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted available—and it doesn’t hit Blu-ray until October 16, 2012. 

Movie prices start at $2.99 for a 24-hour rental or $5.99 for a licensed digital download or stream. TV shows are available for anywhere between 99 cents and $1.99 each.

Once a selection is made, customers can download and store the title in a Toys"R"Us Movies library for future viewing. Other features include customizable parental controls and offline viewing, which is currently a perk for PC users only.

Right now, Toys"R"Us Movies can be streamed through the Mac, PC or Adobe Flash-enabled devices. However, the retailer is working on making it another option for smart TVs, Blu-ray players and home theater systems very soon. Toys"R"Us also hopes to add HD options in the near future.

Both iOS and Android apps are expected later this fall. First up though will be a tabeo app. The new $149.99 WiFi tablet is a Toys"R"Us product, so it makes sense that the device would get the movies app first. Look for the free download starting October 21, 2012. [via EngadgetHD]
