A horse is a horse, of course, of course, but can a projector have the same talking talents as the famous Mr. Ed?

Toshiba says so. The TLP-X200U is being touted as the world’s first talking projector. Um… ok. It’s not as cute as Wall-E or as funny (well, ‘80s funny) as Johnny 5, but the unit will talk you through the setup process, as well as any maintenance procedures. All of those things might save you a buck in damage or therapy, but it also could be attractive for a newbie that just wants to get the thing up and running.

The 3LCD projector also features a 1024 x 768 resolution, 3,000 ANSI lumens, a 600:1 contrast ratio, wired/wireless capabilities, a blackboard feature, and closed captioning. Lamp life is somewhere in the 2,000-hour range—3,000 if you use the Eco mode. It’s also fairly portable, at 4.4 pounds.

Gizmodo says that kind of companionship will run you $1,740.
