Toshiba says it will soon ditch its spring TVs in favor of ones coming this fall. Hopefully that means fire sale—after all, they will need to make shelf space for the 11 new LCDs just announced.
Part of the announcement is that Toshiba plans to put SRT technology into every new set. SRT stands for Super Resolution Technology, which can supposedly take standard-definition content and make it “feel” like high-def.
“Toshiba is now setting the new pace of change by announcing a second new TV line-up for fall 2008. We are introducing new leading technologies, like SRT, and also strengthening our core models for the key selling season,” says Scott Ramirez, Toshiba’s marketing VP. “Toshiba’s growth in LCD TV is already outpacing the industry, and this new line-up will help solidify Toshiba’s position as a true leader.”
Another new trait is AutoView, which will adjust picture settings based on room lighting and the type of video being displayed. Aside from being easy on the eyes, the feature should also conserve a little unneeded energy.
Other features that will pop up include Toshiba’s ClearFrame 120Hz technology, to cut down on motion blur; a Gaming Model for reduced controller delay; a CineSpeed panel for faster response times; and DynaLight control for deeper black levels.
The 11 new models will be peppered throughout the company’s REGZA and Cinema Series brands. The bulk of the new sets will hit this month, with the 46RV525U coming in October. Prices will range from $500 to $2,800, depending on the model, size and features.
