What kid didn’t want to be Ralph Macchio in The Karate Kid back in the mid-80s? What started out as a cruel summer turned into the classic high school tale of boy gets girl, boy gets revenge on bully, boy gets shot at big sequel.

Plus, with this week’s release of The Karate Kid in full 1080p high definition we may be able to see how Mr. Miyagi catches that fly with a pair of chopsticks. And we get to see young Elisabeth Shue in HD—this Blu-ray release is just a win-win for everyone.

If Macchio isn’t macho enough for you, there are plenty of other high-octane alternatives for your home theater this week.

Big names in cinema lore comprise the cast of The Magnificent Seven, the 1960 western featuring Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach and James Coburn. Here we get the full CinemaScope treatment of the Samurai redux.

If that’s not enough testosterone for you, try Clint Eastwood’s Hang ‘Em High or Steven Seagal’s Marked for Death to get the theater rattling. You may also want to check out The Man in the Iron Mask, a pretty good Leonardo DiCaprio flick that may not have received the warmest welcome in theaters because it was his follow-up role to Titanic.
