You may not be able to land a 900 like Tony Hawk. However, you can bare T-Mobile’s new portable with the skateboarding legend’s name.
The Tony Hawk Sidekick was announced earlier this summer, but it actually just got its coming out party.
Aside from the guy’s name, the new exterior doesn’t have much else. It’s supposed to look like a skateboard, with the “well-known hawk graphic.” However, it’s not shaped like a board, it doesn’t have any actual boards on it, and no Tony Hawk face. It sort of looks like an airbrush painting you’d see on the side of someone’s van. However, it will include a customized Tony Hawk theme, background, and an exclusive skate video. It also includes skate-themed swivel screen open and close sounds.
Aside from the look, the unit is actually the first Sidekick to ship with options to record, play and share video. T-Mobile also says they’ve upped the web browsing experience, Bluetooth support, and personalization options. Existing Sidekick LX users should get some of those features via an over-the-air update.
Hopefully the unit is as strong as that helmet you supposedly wear; it probably falls out of a lot of baggy pants on the half-pipe.
