Get ready to create an even larger dent in your couch. Today, TiVo announced the TiVo Premiere App for the iPad.

The new app works specifically with TiVo’s Premiere and Premiere XL HD DVR boxes, allowing subscribers to search, browse, explore and share entertainment, all without interrupting whatever you have going on the big screen. Aside from added entertainment on the couch, this new app will also allow TiVo users to schedule and manage DVR recordings while on the go.

Other features include full remote control, the familiar TiVo programming guide, Season Pass access, cast and crew info, Twitter and Facebook integration, and more. One other extremely noteworthy feature allows you to search for favorite TV shows, movies, actors or directors across both broadcast and broadband from Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, and more.

The TiVo Premiere App is free, but not currently available through Apple’s iTunes Store. TiVo says that that the app should pop up sometime within the next few weeks. To use the app, you must have a TiVo subscription, as well as a TiVo Premiere or TiVo Premiere XL box.

The TiVo Premiere is currently available for $99.99, with a one-year commitment of $19.99 per month. That box can store up to 45 hours of high-def programming. The TiVo Premiere XL bumps that up to 150 hours, and a price tag of $299.99 with the same monthly commitment.

If you don’t have the box or the iPad, don’t fret yet. To celebrate the app announcement, TiVo has launched its Happy TiVodays iPad Sweepstakes. From now through December 10, 2010, TiVo is giving away a TiVo Premiere and an iPad to nine lucky winners. Check out the Offer tab on TiVo’s Facebook page for more details.
