Suns vs. Blazers, NBA 2K8 style
Baseball’s almost at its World Series apex. Football’s in full swing. The puck just dropped on hockey season. And up here in the Boston area, we’re pretty excited for the start of the NBA season for the first time in a while.
So we figured since we’ve had some recent product news on gaming consoles PlayStation 3 from Sony and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, we’d throw some info about the sweet basketball games you can play on them as the season tips off.
Well, actually we’re gonna let USA Today tell you about what to expect from the 2008 versions of the hoops games, since they’ve hit the hardwood with them already and put together a pretty digestable review. Conclusion: NBA 2K8 from 2K Games isn’t quite a slam dunk over the competition but does win out over NBA Live 08 from EA Sports and relatively weaker NBA 08 from Sony.
The review gives NBA 2K8 the slight advantage over NBA Live 08 in terms of overall control, while Live 08 earns respect for its improvement over last year. Sony’s NBA 08 is the only one of the three available for PS3 only, as opposed to both PS3 and Xbox 360.
So have a ball and see if your hoops skills are up to the task this season.
