These homeowners like to say that they have their own personal theater now, and the great things are there are no lines to wait in and no sticky stuff under their feet.
Maybe even better than that, the owners can choose from a 60-inch plasma screen or projection screen, pick movies from a 400-disc DVD changer or Blu-ray player, and select A/V or run other systems from the touch of a button or two within their Control4 automation system.
“The automation system allowed us to create a central location for all audio and video equipment, automate lights, HVAC and integrate with the alarm system,” says John H. Johns of California-based custom electronics pro Innovative. “This theater also includes high-definition video distribution systems, which allows the Blu-ray player and 400-disc DVD changer to be viewed not only in the theater room but also on any display in the house as well as multiple displays at once.”
For the homeowners, it’s the best of all worlds. The flat panel and Blu-ray player are both from Pioneer Elite, and the surround sound comes via Totem Acoustic speakers and subwoofer. The main piece of the Control4 system is the HTC-500 controller that simplifies everything. Rear speakers are wall-mounted out of the way, and a JVC projector is ceiling mounted not to infringe upon the room’s decor.
“The biggest plus about this theater is the fact that they can control their whole house from one controller in the theater. If they decide to watch a move they don’t have to move from their seat. They can sit there, turn off all the other lights in the house, dim the lights in the theater room, turn the HVAC on or off, turn audio/video off in the rest of the house etc.,” says Johns. “They love having this much control with minimal mess.”
