The advent of Siri is making it perfectly acceptable to talk into your phone when no one is on the other end of a call. However, soon you won’t even need to hold an iPhone to have a conversation with Siri, thanks to an upcoming product from our geeky friends at Think Geek.
The retailer has posted the IRIS 9000, a dock for the iPhone 4S. While docks are certainly nothing new, this one has a built-in mic and speaker for hands-free chat time with your favorite non-human. The whole thing is triggered through a remote, which sort of defeats not using the actual iPhone 4S—of course, we mean for people that aren’t really into sci-fi
For the rest of us, as Engadget points out, the IRIS 9000 just reinforces the creepy comparisons between Siri and HAL 9000. (The video below certainly isn’t easing any nightmares, either.)
The IRIS 9000 won’t be coming until 2012, but for $60, it should be worth the wait. Maybe Think Geek is creating some hype. (It’s working; check out those comments on the product page). They certainly created a dramatic demo. Check out the video below.
