Thiel’s CS3.7 loudspeaker
Premium performance and premium design—it’s a combination that speaks to the Thiel CS3.7 floorstanding loudspeaker, which raises the bar for a company that has already made quite a name for itself under Jim Thiel. The CS3.7 began shipping to authorized dealers this week and audiophiles will be able to grab them at $9,900 per pair.
The CS3.7 is a three-way design that includes newly developed drivers, with a 5-inch ribbed midrange diaphragm that eliminates resonances and reduces diffraction and reflection of energy from the high-output 1-inch tweeter, the company says. Deep bass flows from the 10-inch woofer, boosted by an auxiliary bass radiator.
The cabinet itself is made of formed aluminum, with rigid bent-laminated side panels and machined aluminum driver mounting surface (baffle).
Other technical highlights include: complete phase and time coherence, 90-dB sensitivity, ultra high-quality crossover network and a coaxial/coincident midrange/tweeter assembly.
