The sudden public interest in 3D video has caught many, including video professionals off guard, but now, the custom electronics installation community is catching up through products like SpectraCal‘s AVFoundry VideoForge.
This newly released HDMI 1.4, 3D video-pattern generator costs less than $2,000 and it works with the company’s CalMAN v4.0 software to provide pros with a full selection of 2D and 3D test patterns and other calibration tools that allows them to test, calibrate and setup their clients’ video systems.
With the generator installers and home theater owners can test for all 3D formats, as well as specific 3D system functions through patterns like 3D Left Eye/Right Eye Gating to test stereo separation. In addition, the product offers resolution tests that range from 480i/30Hz to 1080p/60Hz, and PC resolutions up to 1600x1200/75Hz.
SpectraCal includes in its AVFoundry VideoForge package a power adapter, a USB A to mini-B cable, a one-meter cable, a quick-start guide (QSG) and a hard carry case to protect the tester.
