Target offers a gift card that features a 1.2-megapixel camera.
Instead of stuffing that stocking with the same old gift card, Target wants to spice things up. Sure, their gift cards have the excitement of all things Target, but these cards have something a little special inside: a digital camera.
SlashGear says that the retailer’s gift cards are packing a 1.2-megapixel chip, which isn’t all that awesome camera-wise—but you can also buy diapers, laundry detergent, clothes, or a Nerf N-Strike with it. Name one other camera that allows you to do that.
The card is available in increments of $50 to $1,000, and comes with 8MB of memory, which should hold about 50 images. It’s also the gift that keeps on giving, because it comes with a voucher for 40 free prints at the Target Photo Center.
It’s a nice little twist on the same old gift card—you know, aside from the many options of gift card holders out there. It’s kind of weird that Target doesn’t seem to be promoting it front and center on its Gift Card page. It also looks like they have a night-light design for the wee ones (or scaredy cats) on your list.

I tried ordering one of this. I’ve now received my 2nd notice on shipping delays with this one saying there are ‘technical difficulties’. And, you can now have to purchase $1000 on the gift card to get the digital camera one (as of 5 minutes ago on Target.com).
They either hyped this item before it’s time or did a poor job of planning demand. Either way—don’t count on seeing your digital camera gift card too soon

It’s hard to imagine life without remote controls, but it’s been a long, strange path to the modern incarnation we know and love today.
Very cool. I think that a novelty like this has its place in the market. For the right occasion it’s a really useful gift and you can give a card and a present at the same time, sort of. This is one camera that won’t need camera insurance too.
