Target will sell only Sony’s BDP-S300 in its stores
At least one retailing giant is targeting Blu-ray in the next-gen DVD format battle. Target reportedly (from AP, via Forbes.com) will only sell Sony’s BDP-S300 Blu-ray player as its only in-store standalone high-definition DVD player.
However, the company will apparently continue to stock shelves with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on as well as HD DVD movie titles. For more Blu-ray it will also have the Sony PlayStation 3.
Target will also reportedly maintain HD DVD player sales on its web site, including Toshiba’s $299 HD-A2.
The Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player retails for $499.
