The cable company is offering an upgrade to its Advanced Digital TV video product.

We love TV. However, it’s not just what’s on TV, but what you can do with it. If you are a SureWest Communications customer, that list of features may be getting longer.

The cable company just announced that they are upgrading the Advanced Digital TV video product to Microsoft Mediaroom 2.0. Besides being able to control DVR functions, the enhancement adds the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward live programs on all of their receivers, including non-DVRs.

In addition to the instant gratification, SureWest says that the 2.0 platform will be required for future product enhancements, which includes picture-in-picture and SureWest Multi-View. That last feature will allow customers to watch four channels on one screen. Both enhancements are scheduled to launch this summer.

The company says that a whole-home DVR is also in the works, as well as additions to its channel lineup and On Demand offering.

SureWest says that upgrade is available now, but only to customers in the Sacramento area. At the beginning of 2011, SureWest had 167,000 Advanced Digital TV customers. The product will be available to another 7,000 additional homes this year.
