Responding to demand for “LCD-thin” surround speakers that provide high-definition audio without unsightly boxes and cables, soundmatters international, has announced the upcoming availability of the SLIMstage all-in-one surround speaker console.
Featuring 210 watts from eight internal amplifiers and measuring a 39 (w) x 3.3 (h) x 3.4 (d) inches, SLIMstage provides detailed surround sound from both stereo and 5.1 signals without reflecting walls, and deep, articulate bass without the need for an external subwoofer.
SLIMstage features four Linear Magnetic Drive main/satellite speakers in its compact console, along with a 210-watt class-D power amplifier. Deep bass extension is achieved by way of nine bass drivers, including three down-firing Extreme-Energy subwoofers assisted by six mass radiators, resulting in low frequencies that reach down to 45Hz.
Along with the speaker driver array are several convenience features, including three digital audio inputs (two optical, one coax), three analog inputs (two on the rear panel plus one front iPod input), as well as a headphone output jack for private listening in virtual surround.

A new CEA study says that more builders are offering all types of technology.
It’s hard to imagine life without remote controls, but it’s been a long, strange path to the modern incarnation we know and love today.
That’s a fine how do you do. I just bought and came to terms with the remarkable sound produced by the MAINstageHD, soundmatters current top offering. Now they have introduced what is clearly going to rock the virtual surround industry, if not everyone else in the hi-fi business. The SLIMstage not only incorporates all of the things that were “missing” from the MAINstageHD (lcd panel, headphone jack, front panel mini access) but appears to be “locked and loaded” to ultimately improve the already present hi-fi sonic wonder of the MAINstageHD. What to do…what to do.
