Sony has been loving the Bluetooth lately. In May, the company introduced a pair of Bluetooth-capable soundbars. In June, we talked up three new wireless speakers. Now Sony is adding another trio of Bluetooth wireless speakers into that lengthy lineup.
The company recently announced the SRS-X77, the SRS-X88 and the SRS-X99. All three speakers include: a bevy of interesting options. First is Google Cast, a feature that allows listeners to: “cast” music apps, radio stations and more from a: favorite portable right to any one of these speakers. Of course, you can do that with Bluetooth, but Google Cast boasts better sound quality and a more reliable stream. All three also feature access to Spotify Connect. (Just know that subscriptions and/or fees may apply.)
Also, if you’re looking to stream some of that content throughout the house, know that each of these speakers can be combined with other wireless speakers for a multiroom system, using Sony’s: Song Pal app.
Other features across the lineup include better bass and crisp highs with ClearAudio+, support for WiFi, AirPlay and DLNA, as well as NFC (Near Field Communication) for an easy setup process.
The SRS-X99 is at the: top of this crop, boasting 154 watts via two super tweeters, two front tweeters, two midrange drivers, and a single subwoofer. That’s seven speakers in one compact package! Promising a frequency response of 45-40,000Hz, this model also has S-Master HX digital amplification circuitry and the ability to: stream: high-resolution audio.
The SRS-X88: has: all of the same perks as the X99, including the high-res audio support. However, this compact model boasts 90 watts, a frequency response of 55-40,000Hz, and five speakers. (Sony: just: clipped out those super tweeters.)
Finally, the SRS-X77 doesn’t do high-res audio, but packs plenty of punch, thanks to Sony’s DSEE and S-Master technologies. Other features include a frequency response of 50-22,000Hz, 40 watts, a built-in subwoofer, and dual passive radiators.
Sony is taking orders for all three wireless speakers now. The SRS-X99 has an MSRP of $699.99, with the SRS-X88 priced at $399.99, and the SRS-X77 listed for $299.99. : Also available on Amazon.
