We’ve had the good fortune of profiling some athletes’ and celebrities’ theaters and homes over the years here at Electronic House.
A cool common thread for at least five guys (no, not Five Guys if you already have Super Bowl party food planning on the brain) is that they can call themselves Super Bowl champions. In some cases, multiple champions.
That would be the case for three-time winner Jerry Rice, two-time champs John Elway and Eli Manning, and Manning teammates Amani Toomer (a multiple Super Bowl participant) and Chase Blackburn, who earned one ring apiece.
Rice, the all-time great receiver who’s sure to be rooting for the 49ers this weekend, actually used to sit pretty in his home theater room for a classic Electronic House advertisement for acclaimed projection screen manufacturer Stewart Filmscreen.
Manning allowed us in for a tour of his New Jersey condo, decked out with a Crestron home automation system, the year after he won his first title with the big upset over New England in Super Bowl XLII (and he beat them again last year in XLVI).
Elway, who took a few hits in losing three Super Bowls before finishing his career by capturing back-to-back titles, showed us his A/V upgrades last fall—before his Broncos team made a successful regular-season run before bowing in the playoffs against the eventual Super Bowl-bound Ravens.
David Tyree’s catch will always be the famous one from Super Bowl XLII, but stalwart veteran Amani Toomer actually led the Giants with six grabs in that game and was kind enough to show us his theater. Meanwhile, linebacker Chase Blackburn was barely on the national radar when we got a chance to check out his digs, but he came up big last year with six tackles and an interception, the lone turnover in the Giants’ Super Bowl rematch victory over New England.
