Sunfire Corp. has announced the debut of their new Cinema Ribbon Trio line of compact on-wall loudspeakers at CES 2007.
The two new Cinema Ribbon loudspeakers follow the successful debut of Sunfire’s Cinema Ribbon Duos (CRM-2 and CRM-2C) launched at CEDIA 2006. All are part of Sunfire’s XT-Series. The CRS-3 is intended for use as left and right channels while the CRS-3C is designed for center channel applications.
The front-firing ribbon creates detail with controlled dispersion to eliminate unwanted reflections off the ceiling and floor. Low frequencies are handled by three 4.5-inch high back-emf woofers (four on the CRM-2C) that are based on Sunfire’s award-winning subwoofers.
The CRS-3 handles up to 450 watts of power and boasts a sensitivity rating of 90dB and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms. The Cinema Ribbon Trios are well-suited for both music listening as well as home theater and are ideally matched with Sunfire’s new SubRosa subwoofers.
The CRS-3C center channel speaker utilizes the same 4.5-inch high back-emf drivers in a 2-½ way “tapered array” and 6-inch ribbon as the CRS-3. The tapered array design reduces the combing effects found in other multi-driver configurations while keeping the ribbon centered for dialog localization. The CRS-3 and CRS-3C are both finished in hand-rubbed ebonized rosewood. Both models also feature a boundary compensation switch, which allows you to easily tailor the sound for the specific room or placement.
- CRS-3: $1,000 each
- CRS-3C: $1,250 each
- Begins shipping in March 2007
- Three 4.5-inch high back-emf drivers (four on the CRM-3C)
