If you frequent ElectronicHouse.com, then you have probably seen Stephen Hopkins’s byline.

The 27-year-old aeronautics engineer from Atlanta has been contributing reviews and tech articles to Electronic House for over a year … free of charge, just because he loves this stuff.

Now Hopkins has joined parent company EH Publishing for real, filling the newly created position of Chief Technology Editor for both EH (consumers) and CE Pro (trade).

Stephen caught my attention last year after he criticized my online stories non-stop. I have always focused on professional installation, while Stephen is an adventurous do-it-yourselfer.

So I enlisted Stephen to be EH’s volunteer DIY correspondent, representing the weekend warriors who want high-quality installations but don’t necessarily want to spend a lot of money.

He has contributed scores of EH Daily Deals, DIY advice columns, and widely read feature stories such as a hands-on comparison of Netflix streaming on four different devices. That one generated nearly 30,000 page views.

As Chief Technology Editor, Stephen will write and manage product reviews for EH Publishing, author technology-related features, and serve as our go-to guy for technology-related questions from readers and ourselves.

He’ll keep us honest. He’ll make sure we’re on top of the latest technology and that we don’t forget the bargain shoppers out there. At the same time, the guy’s smart. He’s flexible. He will take care of the custom channel.

Stephen began tinkering with home theater during college at the Georgia Institute of Technology, “and I’ve been a junkie ever since,” he says.

At EH Publishing, Hopkins will cover a wide range of technologies, but will focus heavily on 3D TV technology, iPhone and iPad apps, and digital content.
