Stay Cool with LG’s HDTV Refrigerator
This culinary delight can hold your lunchmeats, Popsicles and attention span -- thanks to a 15-inch high-def LCD.
November 01, 2006 | by Rachel Cericola

LG has had some TV/fridge combos in the past, but the LSC27990TT will have you staring so long, you’d think you saw some old cheese move.

The latest addition to the company’s large offering of refrigerators is side-by-side icebox with digital high-def built-in.

Instead of waiting for commercial breaks to get your snacks, you can simultaneously make a sandwich and flip over to a DVD; the unit has a connection right on top. And while you’re getting a beverage, you can check your local forecast via a separate LCD.

Other features include a recipe bank, a calendar, child lock functions, a room temperature display and a digital photo album.

The unit won’t be available until next year, but you can start saving. After all, cool doesn’t come cheap; the LSC27990TT will run $3,600.

  • $3,600
  • Available Q2 2007
  • 15-inch HD LCD
  • FM radio
  • Includes DVD connection
  • 4-inch Weather & Info Center LCD
  • CustomCube Ice Maker

Boring!

Have you all the late 1990’s when the world’s first screenfridge was announced (by ICL Retail Systems) - even the Oprah Winfrey audience were wow’d by it - and it ordered your groceries for you - interactive retailing and all that - the world is just not moving on fast enough!!

Transparent door? That’s not hi-tech enough!

Now if the the camera broadcasts the the video over WiFi, that would be really cool! I could see if I have any beer left in the fridge without moving my lazy ### off the couch. ;) j/k

A camera inside so you can see what’s in the fridge? Why not just make a transparent door? :)

It would be awesome if the camera could document whether or not the light goes off when you close the fridge… ha!

In response to Stephen: The info from LG did not mention component inputs; just the DVD connection. Of course, there aren’t complete details at this point…
