Speedy Home Theater Upgrade

I stumbled upon this time-lapse video on Twitter of Chris Thurstenson of Willtech Enterprises, Inc doing a pretty snappy gear upgrade in a client’s home.

The homeowner had an old rear-projection CRT TV tucked into an alcove in the corner of the living room. Thurstenon removed that monstrosity and replaced it with a svelte LG LED LCD TV. However, because the new TV was to be mounted in the same alcove where the deep rear projection once lived, he installed it with an extending articulating mount which allows the viewer to move the TV into a more comfortable viewing position.

In addition to the TV, the homeowner received an Integra surround sound receiver and a Blu-ray player and tied them all together with a Control4 HC-300 to make operation of all the devices easy.

You can see Chris blaze though the installation in the video, and then he whips out his laptop to program the Control4 unit. I like how he keeps the protective cover on the TV even while he attaches it to the wall mount. Amazingly, the whole process, including showing the client how to use it, takes only 8:09 minutes.  Hey Chris, have you entered CEDIA’s Installer Olympics?
