The Wachowski Brothers couldn’t put the cans in the seats for this summer’s “Speed Racer.” So what makes them think you’d flip the $30 to $40 for it on Blu-ray?
When the 3-disc set pulls into stores this fall, it will come with an exclusive game and a digital copy of the movie, says High-Def Digest. One disc will include the digital copy, one disc will have the exclusive “Speed Racer Crucible Challenge” game, and the third disc will have the film, which will include 1080p/VC-1 video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound.
No other extras or specs have been announced yet.
With a budget of approximately $120 million, “Speed Racer” crashed at the box office—making just $18.5 million on its opening weekend. To date, the film has made about $85 million worldwide. As High-Def Digest points out, however, it’s bound to be a favorite for home theater demos everywhere.
“Speed Racer” will be available on Blu-ray on September 16.

Speed Racer was horribly under appreciated. I have never seen a movie with such polarized opinions; either people loved it, or hated it. I dont think most critics “got it”, however. I will be picking this up as soon as it’s available!
