The idea behind in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers is to sort of tuck away that sound. It should be heard, not seen. SpeakerCraft is promising to make that sound option even more stealth, with its new Profile loudspeaker series.

Designed for in-wall and in-ceiling applications, the Profile series actually puts a new spin on some of the company’s most popular speakers. To start, the AIM and the CRS lines will get the Profile treatment, meaning that each speaker has the same tech inside, but in a completely fresh aesthetic.

Neodymium magnets attach each grille. Once it’s in place, there’s no visible flange.

“They barely even look like speakers,” says Jeremy Burkhardt, SpeakerCraft’s president. “They look more like shadows—and that’s if you notice them at all, which no one probably will unless they’re just insatiably curious about where all that great sound is coming from.”

SpeakerCraft has launched Profile series with eight of the company’s most popular models: the AIM8 One, AIM7 Two, AIM5 One, CRS8 One, CRS6 One, CRS3, AIM LCR One and AIM LCR3 Three. All of the drivers are the same as the non-flanged models, meaning each one has identical performance characteristics. Only the outside has changed. Prices range from $199 to $999 per speaker.

SpeakerCraft plans to ship another 14 Profile models before next month’s CEDIA Expo. The rest of the company’s core products are expected to get a Profile match by the end of the fourth quarter.
