We know that slim is in when it comes to flat-panel TVs these days. It’s also become very chic when it comes to the sound that accompanies your wall- or stand-mounted TV.
Interior decorators—of the professional and novice variety—continue to rejoice over the proliferation of soundbars for convenient and unobtrusive audio in your living room, bedroom or other room. The SLIMstage40 from soundmatters makes a further statement in this category.
At measurements of just 3.3 x 3.4 x 39 inches, SLIMstage measures even slimmer than many flat-panel TVs, yet provides sound that’s very full-bodied.
The 170 watts from eight internal class-D amplifiers, the SLIMstage40 delivers realistic and detailed sound in both stereo and surround-sound effect, according to soundmatters.
Thanks to its virtual surround technology called EuphonyHD, bass reproduction goes down to 45 Hz, and the 13-speaker driver array can virtually recreate Dolby Digital and DTS imaging so you don’t miss out during those HD movies and broadcasts.
There are plenty of plug-in options too—three digital audio inputs (two optical, one coax), three analog inputs (two rear panel, one front iPod input), and a virtual surround headphone output jack.
The SLIMstage40 is available for $899, or $1,199 as optionally bundled with soundmatters’ SUBstage 100 subwoofer. You’ll just have to buy a sweet new flat-panel TV to match.
