Sound Quality at a Premium with Cabasse’s $24K Karissima Speaker
Cabasse's TC23 three-way Spatially Coherent System driver powers its 154-lb Karissima, now available in the U.S.
April 09, 2007 | by Arlen Schweiger

There’s high end, and then there’s higher end. For audiophiles seeking the higher end, with deep pockets to invest in their listening experience, premium loudspeaker specialist Cabasse has introduced the Karissima to the North American market.

Part of the brand’s reference Artis Series, the Karissima can be used as either a full-range speaker or as an ideal center channel to complement the Cabasse flagship La Sphere. It is priced at $24,400 each, comes in Wild Cherry, Santos or Wenge finishes, and is available to order from StJohn Group.

The Karissima utilizes Cabasse’s TriCentric technology for pinpoint imaging, smooth off-axis dispersion and seamless frequency response, the company says. At the heart of design is the company’s new TC23 three-way Spatially Coherent System (SCS) driver specially designed for Karissima. This third-generation drive unit incorporates a new tweeter that features an exclusive polyether diaphragm, with HF response linear up to 25kHz.

The same polyether membrane is also used for the midrange section of the TC23 because of its excellent rigidity/weight ratio, Cabasse says. Rounding out the bottom end of the Karissima is a new 12-inch woofer based on the company’s 22-inch design in its reference Saturn subwoofer.

The Karissima weighs in at 154 pounds and boasts power handling of 1260 watts. Its dimensions are 55.1"H x 27.6"W x 27.6"D.
