Stores around the world have already started stocking shelves with Sony’s 2011 HDTVs. To get consumers pumped up about the new models, Sony wants to let you know just what sets the new BRAVIA HDTVs apart from all of the other HDTVs out there—including the company’s own 2010 models.
“Consumers are getting smarter with their choices for home entertainment,” noted Brian Siegel, VP of Sony’s TV product marketing. “Sony is dedicated to delivering customers smart TVs, with unprecedented connectivity and access to online entertainment, superb picture quality, and stunning design, as only Sony can.”
This year, there will be 37 different Sony models to choose from, which includes 32 web-enabled HDTVs and 23 with 3D features.
First up is the enhanced Netflix GUI, which will be offered on new models, as well to existing BRAVIA customers starting this month. Available via a firmware upgrade, the new experience allows Netflix subscribers to browse and access thousands of TV shows and movies straight from the TV’s remote.
Other new offerings include free movies and TV shows from Crackle; the subscription-based Hulu Plus; snow, surf, skate and wake action via Billabong; live concerts on Moshcam; and more than 100 easy-to-use TV apps via the Yahoo Connected TV Store.
Besides a new Monolithic Design Concept (now with Corning’s Gorilla Glass!), the 2011 BRAVIA HDTVs will also include Sony’s new X-Reality and X-Reality Pro picture engines, Intelligent Peak LED Backlight, the OptiContrast panel, and MotionFlow XR technology.
Sony says that the new services will also be offered on select A/V receivers, Blu-ray players, and Sony’s Streaming Player with Wi-Fi.
