You can stop holding your breath. Sony is finally shipping the BDP-S1 Blu-ray player, Twice reports.

Back in October, ElectronicHouse.com reported that the unit was being delayed due to software issues.

Although many consumers still seem skeptical (check the message boards), there’s no denying that it’s got some sweet specs. A few highlights include 1920 x 1080p progressive high-def video via HDMI, support for MPEG2, MPEG4-AVC and VC1, and Dolby Digital and dts 5.1-channel output. Also if you don’t have an HDMI connection, there’s no need to whine—an analog output for 1080i is included.

Between this and the PS3, it seems that Sony really wants to corner your Christmas Club account, doesn’t it?
