Sony’s Rolly may make you feel like dancing, but will it make you feel like shelling out $400?

If so, the egg-shaped music player is available now online, as well as in Sony Style stores.

The hook on Rolly is that it not only plays music, but it rolls around, almost like it’s dancing—even to the worst music in your collection.

“Rolly has the ability to attract your attention as soon as you turn it on,” said Brennan Mullin, marketing VP for Sony. “It’s a tremendous example of what can happen when entertainment and technology merge.”

The unit comes with built-in choreography for three songs. After that, you’ll have to program your own routines with the included software.

Rolly has 2GB of flash memory and boasts five hours of battery life (four if the thing is rocking and rolling). It also has Bluetooth for streaming music from a PC or mobile phone.

Sony soon plans to launch a marketing campaign that will pit Rolly against Grammy-nominated R&B singer/dancer Omarion in a “dance” war. Both will bust moves on the Rolly website. I can’t wait to see which one will be the first to have smoke come out of its ears.

Rolly is now available, in black or white.

Sony makes great LCD’s, but when it comes to MP3 players they need to realize that Apple has the best hands down.  Nobody is going to buy this novelty.
