Sony just announced a little bass for your face—ok a lot of bass for your face. The company’s new Extra Bass headphone series promises a bass boost in both headband-type and earbud models.
The MDR-XB800, MDR-XB600 and MDR-XB400 all have something called Advanced Direct Vibe Structure, which promises that extra bass. The MDR-XB800 and MDR-XB600 feature soft, pressure-relieving ear cushions and a wrap-around feel. Both also boast an acoustic seal, to keep sound in. All three models have a folding design for travel and a cord that’s designed to keep tangles to a minimum.
The MDR-XB60EX is the in-ear model, with 13.5mm drivers and the same Advanced Direct Vibe Structure. Each pair of these comes with four sizes of earbuds for a nice fit, and three for noise-isolation features. It also has the same type of cord and its own carrying case.
“Sony’s sound engineers are committed to providing an unprecedented level of audio performance,” said Andrew Sivori, vice president of the Personal Audio Division at Sony Electronics. “Our new Extra Bass lineup of headphones delivers solid low frequency response, enhancing the signature of today’s music styles.”
Sony is selling the MDR-XB800, MDR-XB600, MDR-XB400 and MDR-XB60EX now. Look for the headphone models to be priced at $149.99, $99.99, $59.99 and $99.99, respectively.
