With the prices of Blu-ray players falling steadily (now in the $200 range), Sony is taking steps to justifiy the $399 price tag on the PlayStation 3.

Its working on a hybrid video game disc which would also contain an entire movie.

“There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn’t it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year,” PS3 marketing executive John Koller tells Video Business.

Koller did not get specific, but predicts two to three hybrids could launch this year. Consumers would also be able to watch the film on the PlayStation Portable.

According to data compiled by the NPD Group (as reported by X-bit Labs), the PS3 ranks third behind Nintendo’s Wii ($250) and Xbox 360 ($199) in console unit sales in the U.S.

If they are combining medias then they should also re-invite the early techs.  How can they shove all the light from the early connections to the back of the protocol?  I guess if you just had each of those before you could handle the next sign you could possibly have the time to banish forward.

so is this how they going to justify the 59.99 price on games; or maybe they going to raise the price of them

It is a neat concept but most games based on movies are not very good.

I think they already did that with John Woo’s Stranglehold Collector’s Edition.
