Sony Ericsson just announced the Walkman W705 and MBS-900 speaker duo. UK customers can expect it in early 2009.
Sony Ericsson has certainly made the Walkman into a pretty cool product. No longer destined to collect dust on the shelf, the new Walkmans (Walkmen?) include phone and camera features. The newly announced W705 even has Wi-Fi support, which allows users to snag songs and YouTube videos while in any hot spot.
Other features include the TrackID SensMe music recognition application, as well as Shake control, which allows you to twitch into the next song. Oh yeah—it’s a phone, too. The slider features a 3.2-megapixel camera and a 2.4-inch screen.
However, it’s the round mound that is the MBS-900, which makes us take a second peek. This wireless audio system takes all of that downloaded audio content and gives it a better treatment than the phone’s tiny speaker. Connecting to the Walkman via Bluetooth, it provides a complete 2.1 sound system from its circular package.
There’s no word on pricing for either unit, but it shouldn’t concern you anyway. Right now, Sony Ericsson is only planning its 2009 release for UK customers.
