Sony Blocks Movies from Xbox 360
Console users are finding titles missing from the streaming Netflix selection.
Xbox 360 Netflix
The New Xbox Experience (NXE) has added a slew of features to the console, including Netflix streaming.

Do not adjust that dial or set-top box. You can also stop banging the remote against your coffee table and/or head. There is nothing wrong with your Xbox 360 setup.

Apparently, Sony doesn’t want to play nice with Xbox’s newfound abilities to stream Netflix. MTV Multiplayer says they have pulled all Sony content from the service’s lineup.

The company still allows PC, Mac and any other Netflix-enabled device to receive such gems as “Zombie Strippers” and “Anaconda 3: Offspring.” No really, Sony is the keeper of a lot of our favorites, including all of the “Spider-Man” movies,  “Casino Royale” and “Superbad.” Xbox 360 users would probably never know that—or maybe they would, since the titles are missing.

Netflix wouldn’t comment, which is understandable. After all, they want to keep that content available to its other subscribers. However, they are hoping that Sony’s content will be licensed to Xbox users soon. Good luck with that.

Do you think this is a smart or slimey move on Sony’s part? Sound off in the comments section below.

in my last post I misspoke.  Sony owns Columbia pictures as well as MGM and Tri Star.  Man, that’s a big chunk of movies and television shows I can’t watch.  Wait, does this ban only include movies, or movies and television shows ?

So,  because I use an IBM Thinkpad running Microsoft’s Windows XP, does this mean I’m not allowed to watch Sony movies on it?  This is a crock of crap.  Sony should get over themselves.  It does not make much economic sense, unlike what Prof Stan thinks.  To be able to pay them to watch their movies makes economic sense as far as I’m concerned.  Once again, get over yourself Sony.  I think Microsoft should buy Columbia, and when Sony get’s their service finally up and running, they should take all Columbia movies/shows off, not because they want to make another aquisition, but because it would be nice to stick it to Sony.  This coming from a guy who has all Sony Equipment from my TV, to my DVD player, to my Receiver, to my speakers.  SONY I’VE BOUGHT YOUR STUFF FOR YEARS, CAN I GET TERMINATOR ON MY XBOX NOW ???

Sony is only doing what is in their best economic interest.  Why should anyone expect something different?

Jesus, it’s like ######-city in this thread. Krudler finds a friend in a chatbot…. very appropriate. The thief and the drone.

Anyway, Sony is claiming this isn’t specific to the 360 now:

Trouble is, people come in on day 1 and think they know everything. If you’ve been using Watch Now for any amount of time, you’d know stuff is constantly appearing and disappearing from the service.
