When “Pineapple Express” pulls into your local store next year, it will feature a little something extra inside. It’s not the obligatory blooper reel or even a Seth Rogen doll; it will have a voucher for a free iTunes download of the movie.
The download will be available with purchase of either the unrated 2-disc standard DVD set or the Blu-ray version. Consumers can choose between an iTunes download or a Digital Copy, which will allow playback on a PSP or PC with Windows Media Player.
Many other Sony titles have included a Digital Copy, but this will be the first to offer a flick as an iTunes download. Expect more to come in the future.
“SPHE is thrilled to expand the value and convenience of our Digital Copy program to the iTunes community,” said Lexine Wong, Sony Home Video‘s senior executive marketing VP. “Consumers can enjoy ‘Pineapple Express’ where and how they like—whether with the full home entertainment experience of Blu-ray High Def or DVD or on the go with their laptop, PSP or iPod.”
“Pineapple Express” will be available on Blu-ray and DVD starting January 6.
