Get ready to crank up the Rdio. That’s not a typo. Instead, it’s a new addition to Sonos multiroom music systems. The manufacturer just announced the addition of Rdio, an on-demand, unlimited music service with a social element.
Sonos owners can tap into the Rdio service and search through over 8 million songs. Once you find something that you like, you can play back that content throughout the house. The social part allows you to peek at friends playlists, share songs and playlists, and check out favorites of other Rdio listeners.
Sonos also allows users to tap into content from iheartradio, Last.fm, Napster, Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Spotify, Wolfgang’s Vault, as well as any networked digitial music collection.
Rdio is available now to Sonos customers in the United States and Canada. Look for it under the More Music menu on any Sonos Controller. If you’re not already a subscriber, the company is offering a free 7-day trial. If you like it, Rdio service runs $9.99 per month.
