On the same day Nvidia introduced its new 3DTV Play software—-a product that allows users to view 3D content from their PCs on HDTVs—-CyberLink also introduced a product that supports a 3D PC experience on HDTVs.

CyberLink announced that it is now incorporating 3D support in its PowerDVD software suite for use with computers equipped with AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series hardware.

The company says that systems that combine PowerDVD and AMD’s Radeon HD 6800 Series graphics can play back full Blu-ray 3D disc video on HDTVs that incorporate HDMI 1.4 inputs. “CyberLink is dedicated to providing the best possible entertainment experience,” says Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink.

“We are delighted to deliver accelerated video software performance with updated version of PowerDVD 10. With AMD Radeon HD 6800 series graphics and CyberLink Power DVD 10 Ultra 3D, home theater enthusiasts can enjoy Blu-ray 3D in full quality.”

AMD supports CyberLink’s enthusiasm over the release of the newest version of the PowerDVD software. “We are really excited to work closely with CyberLink on its flagship product PowerDVD 10 optimized for AMD Radeon graphics, offering Accelerated Parallel Processing and support for DirectX 11,” notes Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, GPU division, AMD.

“The new PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D takes full advantage of the Unified Video Decoder and HDMI 1.4 features of the AMD Radeon HD 6800 series graphics, enabling spectacular 3D viewing experiences.”

PowerDVD updates will be available in November 2010, and existing owners of PowerDVD 10 will be able to download the update for free.
